The Story Behind Ferruccio Romanelli
Perhaps our paths have already crossed on Madison Avenue, in the heart of Manhattan's Upper East Side.For nearly a decade, I have had the privilege of serving discerning clients on Madison Avenue, helping them to discover the confidence that comes from clothing made specifically for them. Many know me not from advertisements, but from fitting rooms, fabric appointments, and conversations about style, craftsmanship, and the details that make a garment truly personal.My story, however, begins in Rome, Italy.At the age of fourteen, my parents gave me my first suit. I still remember the pride I felt wearing it. I was the most proud young man on my street because, in that moment, I understood that clothing could change how a person feels about himself. That suit did not simply dress me, it shaped my future.
I studied fashion design and tailoring in Rome, where I developed a strong passion for craftsmanship and a vision of tailoring that was entirely my own. I was even dismissed from my academy in my final year because I challenged traditional thinking and refused to abandon my ideas. Looking back, that experience taught me an important lesson: true craftsmanship requires both respect for tradition and the courage to create something different.In 2013, I came to United States for what was meant to be a vacation. That journey changed the direction of my life. I began working in construction with an Italian company. As a former military in Europe, discipline, attention to details, and a sense of duty were values I carried with me to New York. After learning English and adapting to a new life in America, I earned my security/close protection license and had the privilege of serving in a protective role for a prominent public figure. Yet even during that chapter of my life tailoring never left me. Beyond my professional responsibilities, I was already designing and creating custom ties for the very individual I was entrusted to protect. It reminded me that craftsmanship was not simply a profession, it was my calling.That experience reinforced something I still believe today: trust is earned through discretion, service, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, discipline, dedication, and pride in one's craft.Those values eventually brought me to Madison Avenue, where I spent years serving clients who appreciate exceptional service, timeless elegance, and meticulous attention to detail. During that time, I also had the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the world's most respected names in Italian luxury including brands on Madison Avenue.Today as Founder and Creative Director of Ferruccio Romanelli Custom Design Studio, I continue the heritage of Italian custom design in Manhattan. Every garment I create is designed individually, considering each client's proportions, lifestyle, personality, and aspirations. I believe true luxury is not simply owning a suit, it is wearing something created specifically for you.My mission is simple: to combine Italian heritage, exceptional service, and uncompromising craftsmanship to create garments that become part of your story, just as my first suit became part of mine.Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about my journey.
